Illustrative defaults, not approved prices or capacity. TB = 1,000 GB. Storage means average billable usage per customer, not advertised allowance. Run both typical usage and a fully used allowance. Extra storage covers retained versions, unfinished uploads, and any additional copies.

Provider Quotes

Enter every quote in USD per decimal GB-month; divide a decimal TB quote by 1,000. For a USD/GiB quote, multiply by 1,000,000,000 / 1,073,741,824. Quote currency conversion, region, tiers, commitment terms, minimum object size, and retention charges need checking. Model unhandled charges in the additional monthly cost field.

Comparison

Contribution = subscription revenue minus modeled costs; excludes taxes, refunds, and any costs you have not entered. Break-even holds workload constant. Provider minimum applies to active storage; billable deleted storage and other charges are added afterward. Free allowances apply once to the fleet, never to every customer. Request billing rounds up in the selected billing increments.

R2 remains the default for predictable streaming bandwidth. B2 is the lower-cost storage candidate. Wasabi is conditional on egress and retention policy. Select US presets for US listeners, or EU/Amsterdam presets for Norway-facing service; these do not promise storage inside Norway. Latency and streamer compatibility need real testing.

Wasabi: $7.99 per binary TB-month, a minimum active-storage charge, and a 90-day minimum duration. Its egress guidance expects monthly downloads no greater than active storage; the calculator flags scenarios outside that policy. Billing units.

Locations: R2 jurisdictions, B2 regions, Wasabi regions. European hosting is not a blanket compliance determination.

Research & Limitations

Checked September 7, 2026. R2 Standard is the default: $0.015/GB-month, $4.50/million Class A and $0.36/million Class B requests; internet egress is free. Shared free allowances are prefilled once per fleet; set them to zero if already consumed elsewhere. Infrequent Access is $0.01/GB-month plus retrieval fees and a 30-day minimum; it still exceeds this budget at 20 TB.

Backblaze B2 is a reference quote at $6.95/TB-month, with egress up to 3× stored data included and $0.01/GB beyond. Regular S3 transaction costs are set to zero; specialized charges are excluded. Verify region and negotiated terms before selection.

At full-month occupancy, 20 TB costs about $300 on R2 Standard or $139 on B2 before other costs. To fit $49, storage alone must cost below $2.45/TB-month; the viable rate is lower after operations and margin. Neither published quote makes a fully used >20-TB allowance sustainable under $50.

Multipart parts, initiation, completion, listings, retries, playback range reads, and integrity verification all contribute requests. Enter observed counts from the upload prototype; monthly defaults are scenarios, not benchmarks. Total downloaded GB includes home playback, remote playback, cloud-to-NAS mirrors, and verification downloads; upload bytes have no ingress fee on these presets. Include multipart/list/retry requests in writes. Deletes are free API operations on these presets, but retained copies and Wasabi early-deletion billing still cost money. Run the initial import as a separate scenario. R2 storage rounds to GB; other provider storage is modeled continuously. Wasabi bills in binary units; its preset is normalized to decimal GB. Enter remaining billed deleted capacity as GB-month in the workload when applicable. The refresh button reads the latest published `prices.json` over HTTP (Cloudflare Pages, local preview server, or other static hosting). A vendor-checking updater or live refresh service has not been implemented; this feed is a dated research snapshot. Terms remain dated separately. It never silently treats an old snapshot as a fresh vendor check. A cheap quote does not establish S3 checksum compatibility, data durability, recovery, or legal suitability.
